Carl Nichols Owner/Funeral Director

Carl E. Nichols, Jr. was born and raised in Covington, VA.  He is a 1990 graduate of West Virginia University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration and Marketing.  He also has an Associate’s degree in Mortuary Science.  Carl has been in funeral service in Loudoun County since 1995.  He joined Royston Funeral Home in 2018 as owner.

 

Carl has been active in several organizations such as Rotary International, the Ebenezer Cemetery Company, and the WVU Business School Advisory Board.

 

Carl lives in Unison, VA with his wife, Holly.  They have two adult children, Dale and Carrie.

Kimberly Reed Manager/Funeral Director

Kimberly M. Reed is a 2002 graduate of Mountain State University, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology.  In June 2009, she received her funeral service licensing after graduating from John Tyler School of Mortuary Science.  From 2009 to 2018, Kim worked as a licensed funeral director in Loudoun County.  In 2018, Kim became manager of Royston Funeral Home. 

 

She was active in cheerleading and gymnastics for fourteen years and continues to show her dedication to the sport by participating as a Cheerleading Coach for the Upper Loudoun Youth Football League.

In 2018, she married Brian Baer and became a stepmother to Sandra. They currently reside in Marshall, Virginia.

Aubrey Hall Funeral Assistant

Aubrey Hall grew up in Clifton Forge, VA and graduated from Marshall University in 1995.  After a brief stint in the mortgage industry, he became a funeral assistant in Loudoun County in 2005.  Aubrey joined Royston Funeral Home in 2017.

Aubrey enjoys watching sports, particularly the Washington Nationals and Washington Football Team.  Even more, he loves watching his kids, Carly and Aubrey C. Hall, IV (“Ace”) play basketball and baseball.

 

He lives in Purcellville, VA with Carly and Ace and his wife, Amanda.

Maureen Albrethsen Funeral Director

Maureen was born and raised in Pittsburgh where she attended Point Park University and graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and served her internship in the Reading and Beaver Falls, PA areas. Maureen Albrethsen is a Licensed Funeral Director in Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania with 30 years of experience.

Maureen currently lives in Ashburn, VA with her husband, Carl. She has two adult daughters, Alexandra and Cecilia and one grandson.

Maureen loves to travel, go camping and is an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Maureen is a member and volunteer of St. Matthew Episcopal Church and volunteers with several different organizations including the Girl Scouts of America for the past 16 years.
